High Performance Methodology

Take the Performance LEAP

LEAP is a simple, practical and effective approach to designing and building High Performance into your organisation. Using this model, you will identify and prioritise the highest impact changes you need to make to increase, and continuously improve performance. LEAP creates sustainable transformation because it is grounded in action-learning and process and behavioural change.

Leadership

As a leader, you set the direction, create the culture and monitor and manage the performance of the organisation. It starts with you. The first step in LEAP is to take a long hard look at what you have created. What do you have that is delivering positive performance outcomes? What is getting in the way? Most organisations are suffering the unintended consequences of past choices. Most leaders are inadvertently creating the very outcomes they do not want.

We provide the diagnostics, tools and guidance for you and your team to explore and analyse the existing performance environment and make high impact choices about action.

The second step is to work on developing the High Performance Leadership skills of the organisation. All of our leadership development programmes are bespoke; designed to fit with the ambitions and actions chosen in the diagnostic step. However, all involve foundation work on self-awareness, awareness of others and personal effectiveness. Programmes are designed to be highly impactful and to create real change using a blend of content, action-learning, experiential learning, practice, feedback and coaching (team and individual).

Engagement

Engagement is about creating an environment and culture where people feel positive, passionate and motivated about being involved in the delivery of the strategy and their roles in it. It captures the spirit of the organisation.

In many organisations where we find untapped performance potential, the people are highly educated, skilled, trained and rewarded. They bring all of their capability to work – and leave their heart at home.

High Performance environments engage both the head and the heart. People are passionate and have a sense of purpose that goes beyond the day-to-day tasks. They innovate and challenge the status quo and strive for continuous improvement.

We will show you how to build and sustain engagement at all levels in the organisation through process and also through behaviours; especially management behaviours.

Alignment

Alignment is about ensuring that the plan is the right plan and that people clearly understand it. It is about ensuring that they have the talent and skills to deliver now and for the future. In an aligned organisation, people do the right things at the right time, to the optimum effect to deliver the strategy and target performance results. Because they understand the direction they are heading in, they can make decisions and choices when they get stuck, and recognise opportunities when they arise.

Just like engagement, successful alignment involves both good processes and the right behaviours. It also depends on effective measurement – because we all know that what gets measured gets done.

We work with you on both to get create optimum alignment processes, develop the behavioural skills and measurement systems to deliver performance.

Performance

Performance is the final element of LEAP. Performance is both a driver and an outcome in High Performance organisations. It is a driver because today’s definition of “good” performance will be “just OK” by tomorrow. Aspiring to High Performance means having a clear insight into what drives your performance and always looking just beyond what seems possible; not just playing the game – but looking to changing the game.

We coach our clients to stretch their performance boundaries and set “unreasonable ambition” based on performance insight. We then help them to establish measurement systems; not only to measure outcomes but to anticipate the future and facilitate timely choices.

Most organisations have strengths in one or more aspects of the LEAP model; few have found the right blend and balance of all. Most leaders have a pre-disposition to focus more on one aspect than the others. In part, this results from our natural human personality preferences. It is also the outcome of the division of functional responsibilities for performance. The secret of High Performing Organisations is in finding the right blend of LEAP choices and continuously learning and acting upon them.
